If you have not had a chance to see it yet, have a look at the movie ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’. It is a worthwhile watch. There is one awesome scene where Will Smith who is a Father in the movie turns to his very young son on the basketball court and tells his son that he is not going to make it as a professional basketball player.
Seems quite harsh right? Wait for it. There’s a catch here.Naturally his son is not a happy chappy hearing this and slumps over and feels very despondent. His Father watches for a moment and then follows it up with this epic teaching moment.
He says to his son something along the lines of this “Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do….not even me”.
Perhaps you may find yourself on your own basketball court of life with that voice of doubt saying you can’t do it. If you find yourself doubting what you could do, or could become, it’s time to start questioning that.Listen to that internal voice that says you can do it. Turn up the volume on that voice of potential and possibility and listen less to that voice of doubt that says you cannot.
Volume up, volume down.
