How do you see yourself?
“… the view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. It can determine whether you become the person you want to be and whether you accomplish the things you value. ..”
That comes from researcher and psychologist, Carol Dweck.
I have a colleague who is loves education, loves teaching and is highly creative.
She lectures mathematics and is doing some stunning and fascinating work not just in maths but also on Growth Mindset and the impact of that amongst students studying maths.
Talking with her is very inspiring because of the sheer insights gleaned and shared.
Here are some takeaways from the founder of the Growth vs Fixed mindset approach by Carol Dweck.
“Believing that your qualities are carved in stone—the fixed mindset—creates an urgency to prove yourself over and over."
“The growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts."
Time to Flourish...
“People with the growth mindset know that it takes time for potential to flower.”
~ Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
Next time you see a flower appreciate the time involved.
You’ve got nothing to prove…
You got this already.
