Systems of Potential



What would you say is your approach to your potential a.ka. your possibilities right now?


Through a goal orientated process e.g. setting goals…or through a systems orientated process e.g. working your own system (of potential) daily?


Here’s how Scott Adams, author of “How to fail at almost anything and still wing big” puts it:


“For our purposes, let’s say a goal is a specific objective that you either achieve or don’t sometime in the future. A system is something you do on a regular basis that increases your odds of happiness in the long run. If you do something every day, it’s a system. If you’re waiting to achieve it someday in the future, it’s a goal.”


It’s not to say you need to have an either or approach but perhaps a fusion of the two.

Let’s say your goal is graduation.


Your system would include the regular + consistent behaviours that for you would be essential to ‘move you in the right direction' towards grad.


e.g.


GOAL = GRADUATION


SYSTEM = DAILY STUDY SESSIONS


Now, think of a goal you have.


What’s a daily system you would seek to implement to move towards a valued goal?


Or let’s flip that


What’s a goal you have that requires a system to move you towards it?


Your system does not have to take hours every day. Might even be minutes that rack up over time towards your system that translates into goals along the way.


Define + Discover + Develop your own system(s) of POTENTIAL.
