It’s 3.52 am as I write this one.
I’m in the thick of a deep work space before rocking a workout.
There are a couple of options I could go with but won’t even consider.
One of em?
As in, talk myself into going back to bed.
The reason I won’t do that is because the short term challenge of right now remaining outside of the comfort zone provides far more longer term benefits compared to the immediate allure of retreat.
“Stress encourages you to focus on immediate, short-term goals and outcomes, but self-control requires keeping the big picture in mind. Learning how to better manage your stress is one of the most important things you can do to improve your willpower.”
~ Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D.
What’s one of the most effective strategies you currently have to combat stress?
What’s a strategy for rest and recovery you’d like to test?
P.s. if you are considering retreating, what are you trying to avoid?
