BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
“Begin with the end in mind” is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There’s a mental or first creation, and a physical or second creation to all things” (Covey).
Let's recap that crucial part. 'All things are created twice'. First mentally and then through execution.
Quick question - what would you love to mentally rehearse?
To help you with that here is a mental rehearsal tool from ‘Becoming a Student of Vision’.
This one is part of ‘The Bigger Picture’.
It may help to take a few moments and write your responses down for later and repeated viewing.
‘Imagine you have realized a goal (that is meaningful and inspiring to you) in every possible detail that you can. Imagine the moment when this vision is actualized. What would you be feeling? How would you look? What would you be thinking? Who would you be with? Where is this scene taking place? Take a moment now to think of this scene and write a detailed vision script of you experiencing this moment as if it were happening right now.
To reiterate Covey…
‘All things are created twice’.
Yet mental rehearsal through an exercise like this can, once created, be repeated over and over. (N.B - Remember to 'Woop' it so it does not merely remain as a fantasy).
