One evening I was driving back from work. What was unique about the drive was the amount of time spent reflecting and taking stock of the last 10 months. It was a bit of a pat on the back session, longer than usual, recognizing the milestones accomplished.
The added time was simple. That evening represented a final meeting and wrap up with an amazing leadership team, for the year.
The reflections while constructive did not have me complacent and here’s why…
“In every forest, on every farm, in every orchard on earth, it’s what’s under the ground that creates what’s above the ground. That’s why placing your attention on the fruits that you have already grown is futile. You cannot change the fruits that are already hanging on the tree. You can, however, change tomorrow’s fruits. But to do so, you will have to dig below the ground and strengthen the roots.” (Eker)
There are a lot of fruits from our past potential actions right now to savour, enjoy and appreciate. And yet that’s not where future potential is at.
Future possibilities are in the planting today.
What needs planting + a pat on the back + planting some more?
