One foot

At the time of writing this they’ve just installed some new machines in the gym. Step machines that basically rotate a staircase.

Between sets I’ve enjoyed watching for a moment people testing these new puppies out.

There is one ‘athlete’ in her sixties that rocks that machine almost everyday as part of her routine.

I call her an athlete because that is how she identifies and refers to herself having said ’I’ve been an athlete my entire life.’

Age has not deterred her in anyway. She is one of the most consistent, fit and strong athletes I know and shows up on the regular and totally, totally dominates whatever she is working on.

Check this:

“If you want to be more than a flash in the pan, you must be prepared to focus on the long term. We will learn that though we think big, we must act and live small in order to accomplish what we seek. Because we will be action and education focused, and forgo validation and status in their pursuit, our ambition will not be grandiose but iterative—one foot in front of the other, learning and growing and putting in the time.” (Ryan Holiday)

Athlete or not, put one foot in front of the other. That’s it.

One foot in front of the other.

And then?

One foot in front of the other.

You don’t need the latest machine to do that either.

You guessed it...!

One foot in front of the other.
