Decisions + courage

After my post graduate training in psychology I took on a 12 week self-awareness course.

Loved it because we really had to dig deep and introspect.

In one of the group sessions we were each asked to draw a picture of our current and projected growth in any way we wished and then share the meaning to the group.

I drew a tree with a emphasis on deep roots which represented the personal meaning of bedding down key commitments and decisions.

Here is how Rollo May puts that.

“The acorn becomes an oak by means of automatic growth; no commitment is necessary. The kitten similarly becomes a cat on the basis of instinct. Nature and being are identical in creatures like them. But a person becomes fully human only by their choices and commitment to them. People attain worth and dignity by the multitude of decisions they make from day by day. These decisions require courage.”

Here is the beauty of this. There is no ‘right’ image to draw or fantastical answer to share.

Nor does it require a 12-week course in anything like that.

Just a willingness to be brave and commit and recommit to decisions and actions that will move you towards, rather than away from your potential.

You totally got this + got everything you need right now to take a next step in your own direction.

Over to you.
