Courage Ladders

I recently had an amazing conversation with a student leader who has developed at a rapid pace.

Our interface has been through mentoring and the widespread application of the woop process (Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan).

What impresses and inspires me about this leader is that he held a vision with his team almost a year ago and ran with it.

We met to reflect on progress made and to be made.

He shared how when an initial leadership role presented itself he took it, viewing it as a ladder to further growth and opportunities and more ‘ladders’.

As more ladders and challenges presented themselves rather than shy away he said ‘yes.’

Another ladder would present after that and what did he say?

‘Yes’.

We can liken the ladders as the opportunities available, and the rungs on the ladders as the challenges to overcome.

To say yes takes courage.

“Courage is the ladder on which all the other virtues mount” (Clare Boothe Luce)

Got any courage ladders to climb?

What you gonna say first?

With ARETE,
