Brand YOU

We’ve all got a unique story that is fascinating to others.

In an interesting book entitled ‘The Brand Called You’, Montoya and Vandehey share some nuggets on ‘branding’ we can take irrespective of whether we have a business or not.

Let’s start here…

“Your personal brand is the powerful, clear, positive idea that comes to mind whenever other people think of you.”

This is not so much about being obsessed or overly concerned with other people’s opinions of you, but more what you stand for, represent and share. How you tell ‘your’ story can play a role in that…

“Your personal history is a powerful weapon in building your personal brand, as long as you know which parts to publicize and which to leave out.”

There are three key points shared about personal branding:

1. Originality - You are original by virtue of being you

2. Uniqueness - You have a unique pattern of strengths that no one else can mimic

3. Genuineness - You have your own genuine way of expressing reliability and trustworthiness

You do not have to be famous to have your own personal brand, nor do you need to have a business.

I’m not talking about selfies or social network posts either!

Remember the quote in the beginning?

“Your personal brand is the powerful, clear, positive idea that comes to mind whenever other people think of you.”

To do that?

First starts with recognizing this within yourself.
