An afternoon in your company

I recently spent an afternoon in a mentoring conversation. The ‘mentee’ I was with was a young and up coming professional with a lot of potential demonstrated and to come.

To be in that space required prep, reflection, wisdom, listening and support.

One of the first things identified early on in the conversation was seeking to understand what they wished to gain from the engagement.

“Why would that person want to spend an afternoon with you? What are the virtues and values that you have developed that make you a valuable and interesting person? What makes you special?”

Think about that.

As you develop your potential you also create space and capacity to help other’s cultivate their own potential too.
