That was the large number almost staring at me from a new book I’d spotted in the university library.
I picked it up and the front cover read ‘The 8th Habit’ by Stephen Covey.
The 8th Habit?
In a nutshell - finding your unique voice and inspiring others to find their voice.
An awesome read.
The details of that book had a profound impact upon me because it emphasized the importance of having your own unique and impactful signature voice and encouraging others to do so as well.
We all need that.
The precursor to that book?
“The 7 habits of highly effective people.”
I’d searched high and low in the university space to find a copy of it and finally I did.
Here are the building blocks or habits that Covey shared.
Habit 1 – Be Proactive
Habit 2 – Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3 – Put first things first
Habit 4 – Think Win/Win
Habit 5 – Seek First to Understand
Habit 6 – Synergy
Habit 7 – Sharpen the Saw
This first one is a classic and worth exploring + good fundamentals to test out and repeat.
Which one of the habits above is strongest for you currently?
Any opportunities coming up today were you could apply it more?
Any chances to practice your ‘voice’? (Tip - schedule it in)
p.s. Not enough to read a list of habits. You gotta introduce them (if you want + one at a time) through repetition and practice. Good habits to have.
