Off the bat monday morning before school our kids were doing a young martial arts training session.
The move they found most difficult to do.
Both of them (our 6 year old and 3 year old) wanted to train the moves they already knew.
Nothing wrong with that and in fact a great way to keep the fundamentals going.
We tilted them though to first start off practicing the move they found most difficult to do.

The story is based upon a world champion ice skater who essentially fell on her butt 20,000 times over many years in order to master one of the most difficult moves that had all who watched in awe.
The point here is ‘work on the difficult’ even if it means dropping on your butt repeatedly to gain mastery.
